Trinidad and Tobago are officially our 14th THINK EQUAL Country: by December 2020 we will reach over 600 children in the region! We would like to thank the 73 teachers who came to the ‘Think Equal’ training workshop at St. Augustine North Government ECCE Centre on Monday 16th December 2019, and the curriculum officers and administrators who attended our workshop at the Ministry of Education on Tuesday 17th. Speaking at the event were Mr Dennis Francis, Chairman of Trinidad and Tobago National Commission for UNESCO, Ms Carol Bhagwandin, Director of Early Childhood Care and Education of the Ministry of Education of Trinidad & Tobago, and Think Equal master trainers Amber Paulson and Emily Hyett.
The 73 teachers represent 21 Government ECCE Centres from across the country who will be piloting ‘Think Equal’ from January 2020.
Think Equal’s programme focuses on early childhood development, developing 25 key Social & Emotional Learning competencies amongst 3 to 6 years olds, instilling the values and skills necessary for positive outcomes in later life. The 30-week programme easily integrates into the existing ECCE Curriculum from Trinidad and Tobago. Think Equal will be providing all the training, support and materials to staff.
We would like to give special thanks to Omar Mohammad, CEO of the Cropper Foundation, the Secretariat of the Trinidad and Tobago National Commission for UNESCO, and Ms Carol Bhagwandin, Director of ECCE, for organising such fantastic workshops. Also a big thank you to the teachers themselves who have committed so wholeheartedly to the development of their children into responsible and loving global citizens.
