Think Equal in Australia: Pilot Programme

23 January 2020 by Think Equal Leave a Comment

Think Equal Australia 2019 Pilot – Country Director Emma Welsh and a fantastic Melbourne-based team raised the funding needed for the Australian pilot programme.

Through the rest of 2019, we piloted our Think Equal programme in 38 classrooms across Melbourne and Brisbane, and the teacher feedback was fantastic. Natalie & Kristen, two early childhood teachers in Australia, reflect on Think Equal below:

“Think Equal has provided me with the opportunity to enact a research-based social and emotional curriculum that explicitly works to counter gender and racial bias.  I love that it facilitates children’s and teachers’ critical thinking skills and has led to some wonderful and insightful classroom discussions and positive behaviour changes. It is exciting to be part of this worldwide randomised controlled trial and I look forward to the results.”

Natalie

“We are currently in the 22nd week of the program and we have seen a significant impact in the way the children relate to each other, the environment and themselves. The group discussions that have come from the weekly lessons have been incredibly moving and insightful. The messages that have come through the lessons have really struck at the children’s hearts, and our own.”
